BOOST MODE WEEKLY | October 26, 2026

I just got back from Tanzania.

A month on dusty fields. Kids with almost nothing. Hungry to learn.

And the first book I picked up when I landed?

The Sniper Mind by David Amerland.

Chapter 1 landed hard after what I just saw.

Amerland studied elite military snipers. What makes them perform when everything is against them. When the pressure is real. When there is no margin for error.

Here is what he found.

The sniper does not have less fear than you.

They just do three things with it that most people never learn.

1. THE HOOK 📖

What I'm reading: The Sniper Mind, Chapter 1 — David Amerland

The Sniper Mind by David Amerland book cover
  1. Control. Stabilize the emotional response. Fear does not go away. They just stop letting it run the show. Inner calm. On demand.

  2. Analysis. Break the impossible problem into tiny pieces. Not one giant threat. Just the next small step. Then the next one.

  3. Action. Execute those small steps. One at a time. The solution emerges through the doing. Not the thinking.

Sound familiar?

It should.

Because that is exactly what I saw in Tanzania.

Kids who had every reason to quit. No facilities. No budget. No guarantee it goes anywhere.

But they controlled what they could. They focused on the next rep. And they kept showing up.

The sniper's mind is not military.

It is a Gamer's mind.

Same principles. Different field.

2. THE GAMER REP ⚡

THINK: Nobody cheers for the offseason.

Close your eyes for 30 seconds.

Picture the moment you want.

The big hit. The big out. The big play.

Now ask yourself one honest question.

Are you building for that moment right now?

Because nobody sees the offseason reps.

Nobody cheers. Nobody claps. Nobody posts about it.

What people don't see: the podium sits on top of hidden blocks of effort, training, failure, early mornings and sacrifice

But the sniper does not need an audience.

The Gamer does not need an audience.

They just need the next rep.

Go get it.

3. PARENT PLAY 🚗

This week on the car ride home.

Do not ask how practice went.

Ask this instead.

"What do YOU want to work on this winter?"

Then stop talking.

Just listen.

Let them tell you what they want to build.

Four people facing the same wall: one stands still, one climbs a ladder, one digs under, one blasts through

You might be surprised what they say when nobody is filling the silence for them.

The best thing you can do right now is not have the answer.

They find their own way.

4. GAMER OF THE WEEK 🏆

Emil.

Emil in his stance in the batting cage during offseason training

He has been waiting.

While I was in Tanzania for a month. Coaching. Teaching. Traveling.

Emil was here.

Training. Thinking. Deciding.

When I got back, his dad pulled me aside.

Told me Emil had made up his mind while I was gone.

He wants to be elite.

Not better. Not good.

Elite.

Nobody told him to. Nobody was watching. Nobody was cheering.

He just decided.

That is the Sniper Mind in real life.

Control. Analysis. Action.

He controlled the noise while I was away. He analyzed where he wants to go. And now he is ready to act.

Emil did not wait for the right moment.

He decided he was ready for it.

That's a Gamer.

5. QUICK POLL 👉

What does your offseason look like right now?

6. WHAT'S NEXT 🚀

Winter training is in full effect.

I am working with different groups right now.

Trying to make one thing clear to every single one of them.

This is the window.

Not the spring. Not when the first game comes around. Not when the roster is posted.

Right now. This winter. These reps.

Who does victory belong to? Type A climbs the mountain because it's there. Type B sits at the bottom because it's there.

The athletes who understand that?

They will not need anyone to explain it to them in March.

Hit reply and tell me one thing you are building this offseason. I read every single one.

Practice players are everywhere. GAMERS ARE RARE.

Go be rare.

Think. Play. Win.
